Mel Schuman, a member of the Park County Advisory Board on the Environment, presents Ute Trail River Ranch co-owner Debra Baxter with a conservation award for the Tarryall Creek Restoration Project on March 2nd. Baxter accepted the award for co-owner Jim Fagerstrom who was unable to attend the presentation. The presentation was made in the Park County Commissioners Board Room in Fairplay. The purpose of the Tarryall Creek Restoration Project is to promote bank stabilization, reduce sedimentation and erosion, enhance riparian habitat, and increase water quality. The project is a collaborative effort of local, state, federal government, and local landowners. Over 29 partners are involved, including the Park County Land and Water Trust Fund, Park County Commissioners, U.S. Forest Service, Teller-Park Natural Resources Conservation District, Centennial Water and Sanitation, Aurora Utility Department, and the Colorado Division of Wildlife Wetlands Initiative.
