Alan Carpenter, CRA 2007 “Award of Merit” recipient.

At our October 2007 Sustaining Colorado Watersheds Conference in Breckenridge, the Colorado Riparian Association presented its Award of Merit to Dr. Alan Carpenter for his consistent involvement with and major contributions to CRA for more than fourteen years.
Alan is a constant and positive CRA member and an invaluable resource — at times very active or otherwise working quietly behind the scenes in his characteristically modest style. Alan has served terms as president and as private sector representative, and he has diligently served for many years as editor of “the green line”. He contributes “Research Summaries” to each issue of the green line to help CRA members stay abreast of current publications on riparian, stream restoration, and related topics. Alan publicly shares his vast knowledge of and experience in ecological restoration theory and practices through presentations and field trips at conferences in one capacity or another. During CRA conference field trips, one often sees Alan investigating some aspect of natural history such as an unusual or particularly interesting plant or land feature, which he enthusiastically shares with others in the group. Alan also frequents the halls of government providing testimony on how best to care for our precious land, including riparian corridors.
CRA’s Award Committee felt that presenting Alan with the CRA “Award of Merit” is an appropriate way to acknowledge his boundless energy and readiness to “jump in and get the job done”, and simply to thank him for remaining such a tireless steward of the land.
